A life in stories
Bob Massie has spent fifty years telling stories—in books, newspapers, film, education, and now around the fire in a world called Wilderland.
He is the author of five previous books and a former syndicated newspaper columnist. His writing career reaches back to the 1980s, when he wrote and edited adult curriculum for Gospel Light Publications and developed materials for Here’s Life Publishers and Campus Crusade for Christ, including work connected with Josh McDowell and Campus Crusade founder Bill Bright. His earlier fiction includes the novel Mortal Intent, and for years he wrote the syndicated column Morning Coffee and the Bible.
Massie is also a filmmaker and entrepreneur. He has written and produced four documentary films, including Are We Safer Today, which brought the living members of the 9/11 Commission back together to reflect on their work—the first time they had gathered in twenty years. With the deaths of three commissioners since that gathering, including Lee Hamilton, the reunion can never be repeated. The film streams nationally on public television. His productions have earned a dozen Telly Awards for excellence in filmmaking.
Outside writing and film, Massie is a pilot, painter, docent at the Indianapolis Museum of Art at Newfields, and a member of the Indianapolis Symphonic Choir.
He and his wife, Dianna, have three grown children and twelve grandchildren. The Mingles in Wilderland—or, Timbit’s Emprise, his first book written especially for families, grew from a desire to create the kind of story children and adults could share aloud—and still be talking about after the book was closed.
He is the founder of StoryKeepers Press and is continuing the Mingles in Wilderland series and StoryKeepers Illustrated Classics.
